January was Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
Human trafficking, (tied with the illegal arms industry), is the 2nd largest and most profitable underground, illegal operation within the United States and throughout the globe. Individuals are trafficked against their will for sex and forced labor.
We are passionate about helping to put an end to modern day slavery. That's just one of the reasons we support Fair Trade.
In addition to supporting Fair Trade, we have added the human trafficking charity, the Polaris Project as one of the charities we support.
Previously, we were donating 3% of all profits to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Now, you can choose which charity the 3% of your purchase will support. If you do not choose a charity, the 3% will be split evenly between the two.
When you shop with us, you support so many people and communities nationally and internationally. Not only does your purchase support our small business, but it supports everyday Americans and their families, it supports families and communities across the globe, as well as individuals who are living with or suffering with mental illness. And now it helps to fight human trafficking on the front lines with the Polaris Project.

While you and I may never be able to be on the front line of these fights, we have so much more power than we even know with our purchasing power. Being a conscious consumer is vital to helping communities thrive, to help end slavery and to make a difference in the world that we live in.
We're committed to raising awareness about the humanitarian issues that plague our modern day world and we are committed to doing what we can, from where we are, with what we have.
We hope you continue to support our shop and help us to support those who desperately need our help.
**Please note that in order to choose the charity the 3% of your purchase supports, you must go to the edit your cart option prior to checkout.
